During my spare time I have done many things involving Computer Hardware. Below you can find out about some of the things I have achieved relating to Computer Hardware.
Building Computers
I have built many computers for family and friends and some for personal use over the past few years. The most recent build I did was a gaming PC for a friend back in December 2011. Below are a couple of pictures of my what used to be my main PC which is now used as a backup server for my Laptop and a few other computers I use for various tasks. This PC was originally built in April 2009 but has since been upgraded with new parts including an SSD and an extra Hard Disk.
Restoration and upgrades to retro computers
I have also performed repairs to and upgraded retro computers such as the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and BBC Micro Model B. I modded my 48K Spectrums to output composite video rather ran RF so that they worked better on modern TVs and also replaced the keyboard membrane in one of them. On my BBC Micro computer I fitted a TurboMMC interface which allows the computers usual 5 1/4 inch floppys to be replaced with a single MMC Flash memory card. I also had to replace the X2 capacitors in the BBC's PSU as the originals popped shortly after I had installed the TurboMMC interface.
